“It is now that we have scientists who can know more about it. I have been working with scientists myself for the past 25 years. I work with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra back in Muzaffarpur and have become a member too. I tell people what they need to know. But before this, our ancestors just knew these things”, she laughingly explains.

Talking about how she started out, she says, “I’ve been farming since 1990. We were going through tough times back then so my father-in-law divided his land and gave some to each one of us. I decided that if I start farming then maybe I could change the state of poverty we were living in. I thought farming would help us sur-vive and get us our everyday basic needs fulfilled at least.”
