Pandit Jagat Narayan Pathak Mallick,hailing from Mallick Gharana(Dharbhanga Gharana) is the son of famous classical singer Lt. Pandit Narhari Pathak Mallick and also great grandson of Dhrupad Maestro of Dharbhanga Gharana Lt. Pandit Kshitipal Mallick.Pt. Jagat Narayan was born in 1960 in Champaran district,Motihari and has been raised under the ancient Indian classical vocal tradition namely Dhrupad.

Dhrupad genre is the oldest of Hindustani classical music which is spiritual,heroic,thoughtful,virtuous and embeds moral wisdom.It has been practiced and inculcated throughout the country by different Gharana. Mallick Gharana is believed to have it’s roots from the 14th century whose tradition was established by Lt. Ramdas Pandey(1442) who was the first disciple of India’s Dhrupad maestro “Swami Haridas Ji”(who also trained Tansen) .Within Pt.Jagat Narayan’s Gharana(Mallick Gharana) he is the 16th successor after his father who has been singing Dhrupad.
